Alcohol and Drug Abuse
Course Description: Whether it's chewing tobacco, bath salts, alcohol, or marijuana, drugs continue to take a toll on today's students. Research shows that students who use drugs don't do as well emotionally, physically, and academically as nonusers. While some of the information in this course may be familiar to you, the goal is to increase your awareness about drug abuse so that you'll be better prepared to recognize and respond to adolescent substance abuse. The course combines interactive text and videos to show examples of common drugs and how they are abused. In addition, it covers policies, procedures, and laws that educational professionals are responsible for following and enforcing.
- Describe the factors that contribute to adolescent substance abuse.
- Identify the warning signs of substance abuse problems.
- Explain the responsibilities and requirements of the substance abuse laws, policies and procedures.
